Pastor’s Thoughts: We live in a time that evokes a deep need for prayer. (But don’t ALL times do just that for one reason or many?) I start my day with prayer and end my day in gratitude. This week in my reading there was a description of prayer that moved my heart. I’d like to summarize it with you here. Prayer is intimate communication with God and is a both a privilege of relationship and a source of spiritual power. We start with “Our Father”. We are not approaching a distant deity but a loving Father who invites us into intimate conversation. Scripture reminds us to “not be anxious about anything”. Prayer is the alternative to anxiety, a path to peace, because we are connecting with the One who holds ALL things. Scripture also calls us to pray without ceasing. In other words, develop an ongoing conversation with God that lasts throughout our day(s). James tells us prayer is powerful and effective, because we believe in a God who HEARS us! Persist in prayer because it connects us with the source of all power and wisdom. Prayer Aligns our heart with God’s heart, expresses our continued dependence on Him, develops persistent faith, and deepens our relationship with Him. We have direct access through our Creator through prayer! So let me leave you with two scriptures that I pray will touch your heart. Go look them up and meditate on them. Keep these words in your heart. Psalm 66:19 Philippians 4:6-7 Be persistent in prayer. God HEARS you!
